JUNE 2026 · WEST POINT LIGHTHOUSE, DISCOVERY PARK
He asked for a skyline and ended up at a lighthouse
Piyush proposed to Prerna by the West Point Lighthouse at Discovery Park on a Sunday evening in June, and Evaro Studios photographed it. If you are looking for a West Point Lighthouse proposal photographer in Seattle, this one is worth reading, because the plan changed completely and the new plan was better.
He came to us asking for a skyline. His first message said outdoor, preferably skyline, Space Needle or waterfront. We looked at a private rooftop downtown, with Kerry Park as the backup. What he booked in the end was the far west end of Discovery Park, where the land runs out at a white lighthouse and the water opens north and west.

THE SETUP
What a decorated proposal at Discovery Park actually takes
A friend went ahead and built the whole thing in the meadow above the beach while the two of them were still on their way: a white and gold balloon arch, MARRY ME spelled out on the ground, and red and orange petals thrown across the grass in front of it. Piyush carried the bouquet up himself.
They came up the path just before eight. The proposal was a few minutes later. That is the part worth copying, and it is the thing most people get backwards: propose early enough that there is still a full hour of light behind it, because everything good that happens next happens in that hour.
The walk is the thing people underestimate
West Point is at the far western tip of Discovery Park and it is a long way down from the main parking areas. Give yourselves more time than you think, wear something you can actually walk in, and send whoever is setting up well ahead of you.

AFTER SHE SAID YES
An hour of light, and the whole point to themselves
Champagne first, standing in the petals. Then down to the lighthouse, and the beach, and the rocks, and the row of white keeper's cottages behind it. Their dog came along and sat in the petals with them for a few frames.
The last photographs were made at ten to nine and there was still light on the water. That is June on the west side of the city, and it is the whole reason to shoot out here rather than downtown.
For the same hour somewhere further out, there is the Whidbey Island proposal, and for the same park on a quieter evening, the Discovery Park proposal.

PLAN YOURS
Booking a Discovery Park proposal
A Seattle proposal with Evaro starts at $795 for The Simple Proposal: an hour on location, 40 hand edited images, one vertical reel, a champagne toast setup, and sneak peeks in three to five days. If you want the setup built for you rather than by a friend, that is The Romantic Proposal at $1,695, or The Evaro Signature Proposal at $2,295, which brings the floral arch, the neon sign, the candles and the full setup and teardown.
While you're there
Discovery Park is the largest park in Seattle and the lighthouse is only one corner of it. Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center sits inside the park and is worth the detour. Caffe Appassionato in Magnolia is the nearest good coffee on the way in. Chinook's at Salmon Bay is the easy dinner afterwards, and Red Mill Burgers in Interbay is the easy everything else.
Questions couples ask
Can you propose at West Point Lighthouse? Yes. Discovery Park is a public Seattle park and the beach and the ground around the lighthouse are open to everyone. Check the park hours before you plan an evening around the light.
Can we set up decorations at Discovery Park? On this one a friend built the whole setup in the meadow beforehand and cleared it away afterwards. Keep it off the beach, take every piece of it out with you, and talk to Seattle Parks first if you are planning anything large.
What time should we propose? About an hour before sunset. On this one the proposal was just before eight and the last beach frames were made at ten to nine, which is an hour of improving light after the moment rather than darkness.
How soon do we see the photos? Sneak peeks in three to five days, and the full gallery in two to three weeks.
